FJ Sunday Brunch Series!! March 25th!
Kids 10 and up welcome - wetsuit and swimming skills required.
The GGYC Sailing Team provides coaching on the club's fleet of Flying Juniors (FJs) two Sundays a month. Pre-Brunch lessons begin at 10am in the Americas Cup lounge followed by boat handling drill until 12pm. Post-brunch racing from 1-3pm.
The Sunday Brunch Series is the easiest way in the bay to enter into the world of sailing, meet active sailors, and have a ton of fun at the Friendliest Club on The Bay! Members have priority but open spots will be offered to new sailors interested in joining the club. GGYC offers a significantly reduced associate membership rate for individuals under 30 and a Corinthian membership to experienced sailors racing on club boats.
If you're not sure sailing is for you, swing by the club or the Marina Green sea wall on a Sunday morning and check us out!
Introduction to Sailing
New to sailing or wanna brush up on your skills before that Mexico or BVI trip? Join one of the GGYC's instructors on the Cal 25 for a 3 hour sailing lesson around the bay. Intro lessons include 1 hr of classroom instruction covering basic sailing theory, wind/current analysis, knot tying, rigging, docking and right-of-way rules. Sailing portion consists of approximately 2 hrs on the bay learning basic keelboat manuevers while enjoying some amazing views of San Francisco. $150/sailor.
If you're like most of us, an intro lesson only leaves you wanting more! The good news is GGYC offers year-round sailing and individualized lessons are a great way to quickly acquire the necessary skills to begin sailing on your own. Take your own private lessons for $75/hr or bring a friend and take a 4 hr lesson for $250.
Members can get right into the action by participating in GGYC’s Friday Night Series (May-Aug) or Mid-Winter Series (Sep-Mar). Racing lessons include a one hour classroom chalk talk focused on US Sailing Racing Rules 2017-2020 and one hour of J22/Cal 25 practice race starts. The lesson culminates with students racing with a GGYC sailing instructor on either a Friday Night or a Mid-Winter Series race. Participants should already be comfortable with basic sailing techniques and concepts, since this course will focus on racing rules, tactics and strategy. $250/sailor
